Final Fantasy XIV to Enable Same-Region Data Center Matching on November 10!

Square Enix has announced that Final Fantasy XIV will enable cross-data center matching for players within the same region on November 10. This feature was previously tested on Japanese servers. Once launched, it will expand the pool for automatic matchmaking and is expected to reduce long wait times for certain dungeons.

《最终幻想14》11月10日启用同地区数据中心匹配功能!

Final Fantasy XIV's servers are divided into physical data center regions such as Japan, Europe, Oceania, and North America. Each region contains multiple independent logical data centers, and each logical data center includes multiple worlds. Players can currently manually travel to other logical data centers within the same region, but this requires logging out first. Forming parties for high-end content usually still relies on the in-game Party Finder.

Once the new feature is enabled, automatic matchmaking for duties such as Roulette will cover different logical data centers within the same physical region. The scope of the Party Finder, Cross-World Linkshells, Communities, Friend Lists, and private messaging will also be expanded, while the process for traveling between data centers will be simplified.

With the expanded matchmaking pool, new players may find it easier to fill spots for specific large-scale raids, and organizers of high-end content will be able to directly view and join recruitments from other logical data centers. However, there is currently no actual data on queue times. This adjustment is limited to within the same physical region and does not enable cross-region travel or global matchmaking between areas like Europe and North America.
