God of War Ragnarök continues to demonstrate strong commercial performance. According to estimates by Alinea Analytics, this Sony first-party blockbuster has reached cumulative global sales of 21.6 million copies, generating $1.4 billion in revenue. Of these, approximately 20.1 million copies were sold on PlayStation platforms (PS4 + PS5), and about 1.6 million on Steam. Among PlayStation platform sales, the PS5 version accounts for 75.2%.
Notably, God of War Ragnarök has not lost its market appeal despite being released for quite some time. In 2026 alone, the game sold approximately 1.1 million copies, generating nearly $60 million in revenue, with 68% of that income coming from PlayStation platforms. With this performance, it even surpassed new releases from 2026 such as Gears of War: E-Day and Saros, once again demonstrating the long-term sales power of Sony's classic IPs.
Additionally, God of War Ragnarök was included in the PlayStation Plus Extra subscription service. Data shows that approximately 6.7 million PlayStation Plus users have experienced the game through the subscription. Although subscription services may have diverted some full-game sales to a certain extent, the title still achieved considerable sales figures this year.
In terms of revenue, God of War Ragnarök's cumulative earnings have reached $1.4 billion, making it the highest-grossing PlayStation first-party game of this generation. This also indicates that even years after its initial release, excellent single-player games can continue to create commercial value without relying entirely on subscription services or live-service models.
As Amazon moves forward with the God of War live-action series project, the IP is poised to attract an even broader audience. The original author even suggests that the series' future impact could surpass that of the Fallout live-action series.
