Amazon has reduced the prices of several Pokémon anime DVD sets ahead of the official Black Friday sales season. Since some earlier seasons were never released on Blu-ray, this round of discounts primarily targets consumers looking to expand their physical media collections.
DVDs max out at 480p resolution, making the remastered first-season Blu-ray a better choice for viewers who prioritize image clarity. However, the content coverage differs between the two formats: the Blu-ray edition includes only the first 52 episodes of the "Indigo League" arc, while the DVD version contains all 78 episodes.
Amazon has also opened pre-orders for a 24-movie Pokémon Blu-ray box set. Housed in Poké Ball-shaped packaging that doubles as a display piece, the set is priced at $400 and scheduled for release on December 22, 2026. This item is an Amazon exclusive, and it remains unclear whether it will be restocked once sold out.
Amazon has not yet announced the official dates for its Black Friday sale. Based on previous years, Blu-rays and DVDs typically see lower prices around Thanksgiving, sometimes accompanied by buy-one-get-one promotions. Collectors looking to secure stock early should keep an eye on current deals, while those in no hurry can wait for potential price changes later on.
