Further details have been announced for the live-action film adaptation of Hajime Komoto's manga "Mashle: Magic and Muscles." Masaki Suda has been confirmed to play the protagonist, Mash Burnedead, with Yuichi Fukuda serving as director. The film is scheduled for release in Japan in 2027.
The original work is set in a world where everyone can use magic and social status is determined by magical ability. However, Mash is born unable to cast spells. The old man who adopted him trained his physical fitness from a young age, granting him muscle strength far beyond that of ordinary people, allowing him to directly confront and even shatter magic. This forms the core of the series' fantasy comedy.
Masaki Suda stated that he really enjoys the original work and hopes to bring its fun to the audience. For him, portraying Mash, who is not good at showing emotions on his face, was a challenge. He also attempted to convey the character's spirit and emotions through his immense physical power.
Yuichi Fukuda revealed that when he met Masaki Suda before filming, the actor had already developed a very solid upper body while maintaining a relatively slender lower body silhouette. In Fukuda's view, Suda already embodied the physique Mash should have and demonstrated his dedication to the role.
