The redesigned visual style of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake has sparked discussion. A survey conducted by Inside Games among its readers received 238 votes, with 53.4% of respondents choosing the highest rating, "The new design is great, looking forward to the release," accounting for more than half.
The new version enhances the realism of the game world without fully shifting to a realistic style, instead presenting an overall aesthetic reminiscent of fairy tales, picture books, or puppet shows.
The results for the other two options were very close. "This design is also acceptable" received 23.5% of the votes, ranking second; "Not the direction I was expecting" came in at 23.1%, with only a 0.4 percentage point difference between the two.
The original 1998 version has long been beloved by players, so it's not surprising that some respondents felt uncomfortable when the familiar character designs underwent significant changes.
