To celebrate the new announcement, The Elder Scrolls Online is launching a free limited-time Gold Pursuit event—"Alik'r Desert Awaits Your Exploration." From now until November 10, both new and returning players can explore the Alik'r Desert during the Second Era in The Elder Scrolls Online and earn generous rewards.

The official reveal of The Elder Scrolls VI: Sentinel coincides with Bethesda Game Studios' 40th anniversary. Today, Todd Howard addressed players, reflecting on the studio's remarkable journey from a small startup team in Maryland, USA, to becoming one of the most renowned brands in the gaming industry.

The journey of Bethesda Game Studios is about more than just making bigger games or improving technology. Over the past forty years, the studio has consistently pushed boundaries with fresh ideas, learning from and building upon each title to continuously evolve, striving to create unforgettable experiences for players.

Early titles like Gridiron (1986) and Wayne Gretzky Hockey (1988) used physics-driven mechanics to make sports games more realistic and vivid, while The Terminator (1991) created a post-apocalyptic open world that gave players the freedom to explore extensively. The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind (2002) took The Elder Scrolls series to new heights and laid the foundation for the studio's decades-long partnership with Xbox. Fallout 3 (2007) saw the studio leverage its experience from The Elder Scrolls to launch a new franchise, returning to its deep roots in post-apocalyptic themes.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim (2011) set a new standard for open-world RPGs and remains Bethesda Game Studios' most-played game to date. The team ventured into new territory by creating Fallout's first online world in Fallout 76 (2018), built an entire galaxy for players to explore in Starfield (2023), and now looks to the future, ready to begin a new chapter with The Elder Scrolls VI: Sentinel.
