Yoshinori Kitase, producer of the Final Fantasy VII Remake trilogy and director of the original 1997 game, stated that Square Enix is open to continuing to expand the Final Fantasy world and producing films or TV series. However, no related adaptation projects have been launched at present, and potential stories and formats have yet to be determined.
Yoshinori Kitase believes that the Final Fantasy VII Remake project explores the relevant worldview more deeply than the original game, and these contents have formed a certain foundation that can be used to support new games or television works in the future. He stated that he sees no reason why such possibilities should not exist.
When discussing the company's investment direction, Yoshinori Kitase stated that Square Enix is generally more likely to prioritize investing in new titles and games. However, if creators have strong feelings for a classic work and possess clear creative interest, the company may also reinvest in older titles and similar projects.
Yoshinori Kitase also mentioned that the developers of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 were influenced by Square Enix's works. He views the mutual inspiration between creators of different generations as a natural process. At this stage, remarks about films or TV series are expressions of future possibilities, not announcements of film or TV adaptation projects.
