Sony's latest financial report disclosed the first official sales figures for Marvel's Wolverine. Developed by Insomniac Games as a PlayStation 5 exclusive, the game sold 2.4 million copies in its first two months, with data current as of November 4, 2026. These figures come from Sony's official financial report, replacing earlier estimates from analytics firm Alinea Analytics, which had initially projected sales of around 1.9 million copies and revenue of approximately $130 million shortly after the game's launch.
The game was released on September 15, 2026. Based on this, global sell-through (actual sales to consumers) for the first 50 days amounted to approximately 2.4 million copies. Polish media reported that the project's production and marketing costs were around $305 million, but this figure has not been cross-verified by other sources and cannot be considered an official statement from Sony.
The game did not receive universal acclaim upon release, with some players expressing dissatisfaction with the scale of its story, and its initial sales fell short of records set by Sony's major franchises. Its Metacritic aggregate score sits around 77, placing it on the lower end among PlayStation Studios titles of this generation. Compared to Spider-Man 2, which sold 2.5 million copies within its first 24 hours, Wolverine's 2.4 million copies over two months is clearly not in the same league.
If the reported development cost of $305 million is accurate, the pressure to break even is indeed significant given sales of 2.4 million copies and typical PS5 game pricing; however, this cost figure has not been confirmed by Sony.
