Chucklefish has confirmed that Wytchwood will support cross-platform multiplayer between Switch and Switch 2 at launch. Players using both generations of Nintendo consoles can play together without waiting for future feature updates.
The development team had previously provided conflicting information. A member stated in Wytchwood's Discord channel that the two Switch versions would not be interoperable at launch, with cross-platform functionality to be added later. About a week later, that member updated the information, stating that Switch and Switch 2 players would be able to play together at the game's release.
This correction means that players preparing to team up using different generations of Nintendo consoles do not need to unify their choice of hardware generation. The game previously announced a January 28 release date during the Indie World Showcase, but the specific year has not yet been clarified.
At this stage, the only confirmed detail is that the two Switch versions will be interoperable at launch. Details such as the number of players for cross-platform multiplayer, whether save data can be shared, version differences, and network feature limitations still await further announcement from Chucklefish.
