Eiji Aonuma has been involved with The Legend of Zelda series since the original Ocarina of Time, while Hidemaro Fujibayashi directed The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Their presence at the event connected the promotion of the new installment with the series' history.

The release coincides with the 40th anniversary of The Legend of Zelda series. Amazon Spain previously restocked the game at €59.90, a price and stock availability limited to specific regions and times. Additionally, two new amiibo figures are scheduled for release in 2027.
