"The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake" will undergo adjustments in multiple aspects, including graphics, map transitions, movement controls, and hardware interaction, rather than just a resolution upgrade. The game will run at 60 frames per second, with support for variable refresh rate in TV mode.
The remake will recreate character models and textures, adding global illumination and dynamic shadows while preserving the original visual style. Water bodies, wind-affected vegetation, non-player character facial expressions, and the day-night cycle will also receive upgrades.
The map routes will retain their original design, but area scales will be rebalanced to accommodate Link's more agile movement capabilities. The game will also reduce loading zones, making transitions between different regions more seamless. In terms of controls, the original design where Link automatically jumps at edges will be replaced with a dedicated jump button. Link can also sprint and equip weapons, items, and tools via a radial quick-select wheel.
The hardware features of Switch 2 will also be utilized for actual gameplay. Players can fine-tune the aiming of first-person tools like slingshots and bows using the gyroscope; when using the console's built-in microphone, they can even hum melody notes to play the ocarina, without relying entirely on button inputs.
