Ubisoft Adds New Game+ and Expanded Progression to Assassin's Creed Valhalla

Ubisoft has released the "most requested update" for Assassin's Creed Valhalla, adding the long-awaited New Game+ mode, along with new storage chests and an expanded character progression system.

After completing the final quest in the Hamtunscire region, "Holy Day," players can restart their Viking journey at a point just before the game's true ending. Each New Game+ cycle further increases difficulty; after installing the update, players must save their game again to unlock these options.

Alongside the new mode, the gear upgrade cap has been raised from level 13 to 27, requiring the new Mithril resource for upgrades. The expanded progression system also refines power calculations: each gear upgrade and rune adds 1 Power, while every 5 skill points invested in a specialization increases Power, enhancing the impact of gear on character growth and raising the challenge.

Runes can now be upgraded to a new "Superior" tier using Mithril. The Inscription page in the Rune Forge has added over 300 inscribable runes, covering effects introduced after launch, including DLC and Helix Store content. Ravensthorpe also features a new storage chest for storing gear and runes from your inventory.

This update adds two new achievements, requiring players to fully upgrade Divine gear and complete New Game+. The PS5 Pro version receives PSSR optimization to enhance 4K image quality, achieving 60 FPS in Quality Mode and supporting PSSR 2. The patch also adjusts dual-wielding feel, attribute runes, skill specializations, and bonuses.
