White House Video Uses Footage and Actual Music from The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time

The White House has once again used video game assets in its political communications, this time involving The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. The related video used actual music from the game, and its visuals clearly mimicked the original Nintendo 64 version.

In the video, a character resembling Trump runs through a game-like scene. The video reiterates Trump's anti-immigration stance and attempts to showcase what he claims are achievements during his second term.

The White House has previously used pop culture and video game imagery multiple times to create political posts, memes, and advertisements. Representatives from the Halo series have publicly opposed such usage; The Pokémon Company also formally distanced itself from a political ad that used the phrase "Gotta catch ’em all" and featured Pikachu memes.

The White House website previously hosted a Tetris-like game. After the official Tetris account expressed opposition and mentioned copyright enforcement, the game was taken down. A representative from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security previously stated that the government would continue to leverage familiar content from Halo, Pokémon, and other media for communication. As of the release of this news, Nintendo has not been confirmed to have made any public response regarding this The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time video.
