Yoshinori Kitase, producer of Final Fantasy VII Remake, recently discussed the possibility of adapting the series for television, expressing hope for new games or TV series inspired by the Final Fantasy story in the future. He believes this direction is certainly achievable.
Yoshinori Kitase stated that the team explored the game world more deeply than the original while developing Final Fantasy VII Remake. However, there are currently no specific details regarding episode titles, production teams, broadcasting platforms, or development progress, and Square Enix has not officially confirmed any television project.
Final Fantasy has previously undertaken several cross-media attempts, including the 2001 CGI film Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within, Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children, which continues the story of Final Fantasy VII, and the prequel anime and film Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV centered around Final Fantasy XV. Notably, Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV earned $6.5 million at the box office during its limited theatrical release, featuring actors such as Sean Bean and Aaron Paul.
On the gaming front, the Final Fantasy VII Remake trilogy is set to conclude with Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, scheduled for release in 2027. The game will offer a Hard Mode from the start, as Cloud and his party continue their battle against Sephiroth.
