The heartwarming puzzle-adventure game LUNA: The Shadow Dust won the hearts of many players with its beautiful visuals and moving narrative after release, leading to sequels and film adaptation plans. However, the road to success was not smooth—developer Wishfully recently revealed that the team made "hundreds" of pitches and received just as many rejections.
In a recent interview with Games Industry, Adam Stjärnljus, co-head and creative director at Wishfully, admitted that the team went through a long and difficult pitching process before LUNA: The Shadow Dust finally got the green light.
"We made hundreds of pitches and were rejected hundreds of times," recalled Stjärnljus. He revealed that among these rejections, "some were polite 'no's, while others were less friendly." "It was really, really tough... being rejected feels terrible."
Nevertheless, all those hardships are now in the past. Stjärnljus stated that the future of the LUNA: The Shadow Dust series looks very bright, and the team "definitely wants to continue expanding within the LUNA: The Shadow Dust universe."
This includes the previously announced film adaptation project. Stjärnljus shared the latest updates on the project: "They (Story Kitchen) were very excited from the start; they understood the work, which is key. We feel it’s truly in the right hands. Of course, no one can predict exactly how it will turn out, but so far, it has been a great collaboration. There are many exciting things happening around it."
