The animated feature film directed by Makoto Shinkai, known for Your Name and Weathering with You, is scheduled for release later this year.
Crunchyroll has secured the international distribution rights for Makoto Shinkai's new animated feature film. The company will partner with Sony Pictures Entertainment to distribute the film in all regions outside of Asia.
The title, plot, and premiere date have not yet been announced. In January this year, Makoto Shinkai stated that he would release a new work by the end of 2026, so the first details may emerge in the coming months.
Crunchyroll and Sony Pictures previously handled the international distribution of Suzume. The film grossed approximately $323 million, was selected for the main competition at the Berlin International Film Festival, and received a Golden Globe nomination.
Meanwhile, to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Your Name, the film's producers are preparing a new version, set for release in select countries and regions on August 14.
