According to Sensor Tower data, approximately 89% of all GTA 6 pre-orders are for the more expensive Ultimate Edition. This indicates that most players who have already pre-ordered are willing to pay an additional $20 for the premium version.
This ratio is nearly identical across both platforms: 90% of buyers on Xbox chose the Ultimate Edition, compared to 88.5% among PlayStation users. Carl Kontos, General Manager of Video Game Insights at Sensor Tower, stated that premium editions typically account for about 10–20% of pre-orders, with even 50% considered very high. "I've never seen premium edition shares reach 90% before," he said.
Sensor Tower's findings also corroborate recent statements by Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick that early pre-orders for GTA 6 are "skewing toward the premium edition." However, these figures should not be considered final: Sensor Tower notes that the proportion of Ultimate Edition purchases may decrease as the release date approaches and more casual buyers enter the market.
Pre-orders for GTA 6 will open on June 25, 2026, with the game itself launching on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on November 19, 2026. Rockstar also confirmed that digital pre-orders can be pre-loaded starting November 12.
