Activision has confirmed that the multiplayer open beta for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 will begin on August 21. The company also revealed how to access the beta, what it includes, and more details.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 Beta Schedule
PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S will offer early access to players who pre-order from August 22 to 26. It will then be open to all players from August 29 to September 2. This public beta will also support Switch 2.
How to Access
Players who pre-order Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 can access the game early, but the open beta is free for all players. The fine print also mentions that an "online multiplayer subscription" may be required.
Since pre-orders for Switch 2 do not begin until August 26, early access is not available on Switch 2.
What Does the Beta Include?
The multiplayer mode in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 features multiple maps and modes, along with a "rich" roster of playable operators. The beta includes "up to" 19 different weapons, supports modes such as Search & Destroy and Kill Confirmed, and offers "Mobility Training Courses" to help players get up to speed quickly.
On August 14, Activision revealed the specific content for each weekend of the beta, including campaign content for the first time.

Campaign Mission: Hold the Line
Multiplayer Maps: Rooftop, Cocoon Nest, Terminal 213, Hideout, Lotus, Kill Confirmed
Multiplayer Modes: Team Deathmatch, Domination, Hardpoint, Confirm Kill, Infected, Search & Destroy, Kill Confirmed - 10v10 and 3v3 Gunfight, Mobility Training Grounds.
Open Beta (August 29 to September 2)
Campaign Mission: Hold the Line
Multiplayer Maps: Rooftop, Silk Factory, Terminal 213, Hideout, Lithium Mine, Kill Confirmed
Ground War: Combat Outpost, Imjin Farmlands, and Wolf Stadium
Warzone: Revival Zodiac
Multiplayer Modes: Hijacked, Combat Outpost, Team Deathmatch, Domination, Hardpoint, Confirm Kill, Infected, Search & Destroy, Kill Confirmed – 10v10 and 3v3 Gunfight, Mobility Training Grounds
The beta also features a wide variety of tactical equipment, lethal items, field upgrades, perks, and killstreaks for players to try out before the official launch.
Players who pre-order the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 Vault Edition can use the operators and weapons included in that edition during the beta.

Call of Duty Next
Activision announced that the annual Call of Duty event, "Call of Duty Next," will return on August 21. This online event will feature new gameplay footage, a "deep dive" into Modern Warfare 4's multiplayer content, developer interviews, and reveals of "new content."
