Recently, a PC user encountered a tricky hardware issue while plugging and unplugging the graphics card's DisplayPort video cable, sparking heated discussion among netizens.
According to reports,When the user attempted to unplug the DisplayPort cable from the graphics card, the outer plastic sheath and internal wires snapped directly, leaving the metal connector part stuck inside the graphics port.
The reason for this situation is that DisplayPort interfaces are typically equipped with a mechanical latch mechanism.
Once inserted into the port, the latch secures the connector in the slot to prevent the cable from accidentally falling out.To unplug it normally, you need to press the release button on the connector first before removing the cable.
However, even if the release button is pressed, a slight misalignment between the graphics card and the chassis rear bracket can still make it difficult to remove the cable.
Especially when the graphics card mounting screws are tightened too much, the graphics card may be slightly lifted upwards, causing the DisplayPort connector to be squeezed against the chassis metal bracket. This creates additional mechanical stress, preventing the latch from releasing properly.
Some netizens suggested that if the connector is already stuck, it is advisable to completely shut down the computer and disconnect the power supply before attempting to resolve the issue.
