Phantom Blade Zero will launch on PS5 and PC platforms on October 29. Recently, producer Liang Qiwei shared behind-the-scenes development insights and project plans at a closed-door screening event. Let's take a look!
Liang Qiwei admitted that the development difficulty of Phantom Blade Zero far exceeded expectations. In the process of pursuing the dream of single-player wuxia, the vast majority of time was spent dealing with various practical challenges in R&D adaptation and implementation. All gameplay footage shown externally this time was natively recorded on the standard PS5; slight jagged edges and screen tearing may occur during high-speed combat scenes. The team is currently making performance optimization its core finalization task to ensure players have a stable and playable complete experience.
When asked about the studio's long-term plans, Liang Qiwei clearly stated that S-Games will not abandon the single-player track after the release of Phantom Blade Zero, and will continue to delve deeply into wuxia-themed creation. The direction for future new titles will be steadily planned based on this game's market performance. Currently, the team is focusing all its energy on polishing the final product to ensure the game's complete launch.
"Compared to previous entries in the series, Phantom Blade Zero allows our expression of wuxia to be more complete and thorough, bringing to fruition the team's long-held original intention in wuxia creation. For me personally, this represents the culmination and realization of my years-long passion for wuxia and my gaming dreams. At this stage, the team's core focus is on fully polishing the quality of the final product, striving to deliver a more complete gaming experience for the global simultaneous release on October 29. We will make steady plans based on the market feedback for this title. What is certain is that S-Games will firmly continue to cultivate the domestic single-player track, continuously explore wuxia culture, and create more possibilities for domestic AAA wuxia games."
