Recently, an editor from the well-known foreign media outlet GamesRadar+ published an article titled "The 35 Best RPGs to Play in 2026." While originally intended to recommend interesting RPGs to players, the official ranking table organized from "A to E" tiers sparked fierce debates among fans of various games.
Players generally believe that games like The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Elden Ring, and Yakuza 0 do not fall under the RPG category. Even if they do, Breath of the Wild shouldn't be ranked only at C-Tier. Furthermore, the biggest controversy surrounds Kingdom Come: Deliverance II, released in 2025. Players argue that this open-world RPG developed by Warhorse Studios should rank much higher based on its story and setting.
In short, players were extremely dissatisfied with the ranking, believing that the editors who compiled the list didn't understand games. Some even claimed the list was rigged to favor Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, calling it France's premier JRPG, just to boost its standing.
