"Kingdom Hearts" Retail Sales Surpass $1 Billion, Joining Disney's Most Valuable IPs

According to a recent press release from The Walt Disney Company, the Kingdom Hearts series has been officially listed as one of Disney's most valuable IPs, with retail sales surpassing the $1 billion mark. The series has become a core asset in Disney's gaming portfolio. Sean Shoptaw, Executive Vice President of Global Games and Digital Entertainment at Disney, stated that the core philosophy of the entire Disney and Pixar Games label is "to tell truly original stories."

Currently, Kingdom Hearts co-leads the Disney and Pixar Games label alongside titles like Marvel: Contest of Champions. The label also encompasses well-known IPs from Lucasfilm Games, Marvel Games, and 20th Century Games. In an official Disney video titled "How Disney is Building the Future Through Gaming," Shoptaw elaborated on this strategic layout.

To celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Kingdom Hearts series, Disney and Square Enix will host a "DEEP DIVE into KINGDOM HEARTS" panel on August 15 at 4:30 PM PT (7:30 PM ET). The event will be streamed live on the official YouTube channels of Disney, Kingdom Hearts, and TGA, featuring behind-the-scenes footage and exclusive content from the series' development for the first time.

Regarding the game lineup, Kingdom Hearts IV has been confirmed for release on Nintendo Switch 2, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Meanwhile, the classic compilation Kingdom Hearts Collection 1-3 will launch on Switch 2, PS5, and XSX|S on October 8.
