Developer Sucker Punch has announced several updates related to Ghost of Yōtei, including a new expansion, a new combat survival mode, and the Complete Edition.
New Story Expansion: "Echoes of Sekigahara"
Featuring a narrative structure that intertwines the present with memories. Players will encounter a new character named Nagato, described as "a figure from Atsu's past."
This story expansion will also take players to new locations. In the present day, players will visit a valley once occupied by "The Serpent" and his followers, the "Vipers." In the past, players will personally participate in the Battle of Sekigahara. Additionally, the expansion includes new enemies, weapons, armor sets, and dyes.
New Combat Survival Mode: "Most Wanted"
Sucker Punch Studios stated that this single-player mode is "our fresh take on roguelike games." The studio added: "Players must accept bounty missions to begin new adventures, defeat enemies to earn rewards, and unlock more playable characters."
More details will be announced later. The trailer shows that Atsu will fight with dual blades, Oyuki will wield a kusarigama, and Nagata will deal damage with a spear.
Ghost of Yōtei Complete Edition priced at $70
In addition to the base game and all the content mentioned above, the Complete Edition grants players access to the online co-op mode Ghost of Yōtei: Legends. This edition also includes all content from the game's Digital Deluxe Edition.
The Complete Edition is now available, but "Echoes of Sekigahara" and "Most Wanted" won't launch until October 1. Players who purchase the Complete Edition before September 30 will receive the Sakai Clan Armor on October 1—a set modeled after Jin Sakai's family armor from Ghost of Tsushima.
Players who already own Ghost of Yōtei can purchase the Complete Edition upgrade pack for $15 to access "Echoes of Sekigahara" and "Most Wanted."
Additionally, the upcoming patch on October 1 will introduce the "Beauty of Yōtei" mode, a screensaver-like feature that showcases stunning in-game scenes, which players can project onto their TV screens.
The October 1 patch also includes updates to enhance the gaming experience, such as allowing players to retain the appearance of their current gear set while using different set attributes. Additionally, new high-contrast accessibility options will be added.
