The Last of Us Still Has Two Projects in Development, Unclear if It's a Third Installment

Naughty Dog.exe has not yet concluded its work on The Last of Us series. Studio co-president Neil Druckmann confirmed that two related projects are currently in preparation, but did not specify their exact formats.

《最后生还者》仍有两个项目在筹备,不确定是否为第三部

When discussing HBO's The Last of Us Season 3, Druckmann stated that neither he nor Naughty Dog.exe was involved in its production in any capacity. However, Naughty Dog.exe continues to manage the IP and has not stopped working on initiatives related to the series.

"Naughty Dog.exe remains the steward of this IP. Even if this adaptation ends here, we haven't finished with The Last of Us," said Druckmann, noting that the studio has two projects underway and that he would be happy to share more details when the time is right.

This statement does not confirm that The Last of Us Part III is in development. Druckmann has previously remained noncommittal about the possibility of a third installment, only mentioning that he had ideas for how the story could continue. Therefore, it remains uncertain whether the two projects revealed this time include a sequel game.

The Last of Us has previously expanded into comics, stage plays, and horror-themed events. This means the projects currently in development may not all be video games, and Naughty Dog.exe has not yet announced titles, platforms, or release dates.

Meanwhile, Naughty Dog.exe is developing Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet for PS5. Rumors point to a 2027 release window, but this has not been confirmed by Naughty Dog.exe or PlayStation.
