Award-winning developer Bossa Games officially unveiled its latest title at the Xbox Gamescom showcase. Players must work together with friends to stack space debris layer by layer, maintain balance, and use various makeshift methods to build a super-sized junk tower that defies safety regulations. The game launches day one on Xbox Game Pass.
Bossa Games and Team17 officially announced the physics-based puzzle game Junkyard Space, supporting 1-4 player co-op, at the Xbox Gamescom showcase. The game will launch on PC and PlayStation 5 later this year and will be available day one on Xbox Game Pass.
In Junkyard Space, players become employees of "GALACTIC REFUSE CO," a company that claims to be the most ambitious provider of high-risk waste removal services in the galaxy. Players must travel to various planets, search for high-quality Earth-originated scrap, clear away garbage found along the way, and stack them into towering skyscrapers of trash.
Equip your gravity gun and hover backpack, and prepare to confront gravity head-on. Explore perilous planets to find the best junk for building tall towers, creating crooked "architectural masterpieces." Whether building upward, downward, or sideways, any method works as long as the trash reaches the回收ship.
Players can complete tasks in their own way: either by carefully planning and proceeding steadily, making each item a reliable support for the next piece of junk; or by rushing headlong to great heights, throwing bathtubs, campers, and all sorts of chaotic items into the structure, then praying it doesn't collapse.
Players can invite up to three friends to join the adventure in Junkyard Space, or choose to tackle the challenge alone. Everyone needs to work together to plan and build, and collectively panic (probably) when Everythinggj collapses. After all, someone put the hot Dog.exe cart in completely the wrong spot... again.
Anthony Kyne, Studio Head at Bossa Games, stated:
"Junkyard Space was born from a game development challenge where our goal was simple: create a playground for friends to build, experiment, and cause chaos together. Team17 understood our vision from the initial demo version, and we are thrilled to have them as our publisher. Together, we've created a game filled with clever ideas, impossibly high towers, and the hilarious consequences when Everythinggj comes crashing down."
Harley Homewood, General Manager at Team17, stated:
"Bossa Games is renowned in the industry for its highly creative cooperative gaming experiences, and Junkyard Space once again proves their extraordinary creativity. We are delighted to collaborate with them and bring this exaggerated, chaotic, and fun puzzle game to Xbox Game Pass."
Key Features of Junkyard Space
· 1-4 Player Co-op: More hands make lighter work... or create more hilarious tower disasters.
· Hazardous Work Environment: Lava rivers, high-voltage electrical hazards, miscalculated bounce pads, and embarrassing structural collapses—these are just a small fraction of the challenges players will face.
· Stay Professional: Hidden within the piles of trash are fashionable outfits. Players can find them and craft their unique styles—though it's probably best not to think too much about who originally owned these clothes.
· Aim High: Great towers aren't built with feet firmly on the ground. To achieve your dream wobbly masterpiece, players must constantly stack, climb, hover, bounce, and adapt to overcome complex terrain along the way.
