Onimusha: Way of the Sword is the first brand-new entry in the Onimusha series in over two decades. Set in Kyoto during the Edo period, the game features the renowned swordsman Miyamoto Musashi as its protagonist. While retaining the series' signature satisfying swordplay action, the title incorporates cutting-edge technology and offers an engaging storyline along with stunning visuals.

Prior to launch, Capcom effectively expanded awareness of the game among a broad audience through marketing campaigns such as multiple playable demo releases and offline experience events, laying a solid foundation for its first-day sales of one million copies.

Capcom stated that, in addition to regularly releasing major new titles each year, the company is focusing on revitalizing IPs that have not seen new releases for a long time. By fully leveraging its rich content library, Capcom aims to further maximize corporate value. The return of the Onimusha series is a key embodiment of this strategy.
