South Korean developer NC officially unveiled its new FPS title, Like or Die, during the Opening Night Live event at Gamescom 2026. Set in a parallel universe version of Seoul, the game requires players to stream their matches, striving for audience likes and sponsor approval through their combat performance.
Matches will be streamed on a platform called Quaya, where players aim to garner as many likes as possible. Potential sponsors also watch the streams, and the more recognition players receive, the greater their chances of receiving gifts from sponsors.
The revealed footage showcases features such as environmental destruction, zip lines, and jump pads, with players dissolving into pixel blocks upon elimination. These elements bear similarities to THE FINALS, developed by Embark Studios, and both titles adopt the concept of competitive matches viewed by sponsors.
Kim Hwan, NC's head of intellectual property, stated that the live streams are watched not only by humans but also by various creatures and alien lifeforms. The space black hole appearing at the end of the demo signifies that the entire galaxy is tuning in, with cosmic beings watching the matches during their interstellar travels.
These intergalactic viewers do not currently appear in-game as specific characters; their role is primarily reflected in the world-building and live match settings. The better players perform in the arena, the greater the rewards they can earn.
Like or Die does not yet have a confirmed release date, with the development team currently planning to hold a closed beta test before the end of 2026.
