Call of Duty 4 Beta Breaks 110,000 Peak Concurrent Players on Steam, Surpassing Call of Duty 7

The beta version of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 set a record high of 115,145 concurrent players on Steam. This figure exceeded the Steam online peak of approximately 100,000 players when Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 was officially released.

According to SteamDB, this beta test lasted for 17 days and ended on September 1. Since the test has concluded, it is no longer possible to monitor its daily or weekly active user data, but the highest number of concurrent players during the test period has been determined.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 launched in November 2025, attracting around 100,000 concurrent players on Steam during its initial release. In comparison, the beta version of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 peaked about 15,000 players higher, and this achievement came from a limited-time beta test rather than the full game's official launch.

The test content also sparked discussion among players, focusing on faster time-to-kill and the removal of omnidirectional movement mechanics. However, the long-term impact of these gameplay changes will need to be further observed after the full version is released.

It is important to note that both figures only reflect the Steam platform. Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 is also available on PlayStation, Xbox, Battle.net, and the Xbox PC app, so the Steam peak does not represent the game's overall player base across all platforms.

Based on current Steam data, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 has already surpassed the initial launch peak of Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 during its beta phase. Whether its full release can sustain this level of concurrency remains to be confirmed by future data.
