Rebel Wolves, a studio formed by former senior CD Projekt Red developers, announced just one week after the release of its first vampire-themed RPG, Blood of Dawnwalkers, that it has already begun planning the next entry in the series. The game sold over a million copies within days of launch and received widespread acclaim.
According to Narrative Director Jakub Szamałek on LinkedIn, the studio has entered the pre-production phase for a new entry in the "Dawnwalkers" series, expected to be a direct sequel. The team is recruiting a lead writer to collaborate with Szamałek on crafting a new storyline. Given the game's immediate success upon release, this rapid progression is hardly surprising.
The day-and-night dual combat system and time-limited mission mechanics are expected to return in the sequel, as players have come to regard them as core identifiers of the series. The dark gothic vampire theme is also likely to continue.
However, the studio is still in the early pre-production phase for the sequel, which may still be several years away from release. In the meantime, the development team plans to roll out major updates and DLC content for the original game to meet player demand.
Blood of Dawnwalkers is now available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.
