"Beast of Reincarnation" Player Count Far Exceeds Expectations; Director Credits Xbox Game Pass and Physical Discs

Since its release this August, Game Freak's new action RPG, Beast of Reincarnation, has received mixed reviews from critics, but the player count has far exceeded the development team's expectations. In a recent interview with Famitsu, game director and scenario writer Kota Furushima revealed relevant data and future update plans.

Director Furushima stated that as a brand-new original IP, the number of people playing Beast of Reincarnation has "far exceeded our imagination." The Xbox Game Pass subscription service has allowed many players to experience the title, while physical sales of the PS5 version have also been strong.

However, the surge in players has brought unexpected challenges—the volume of feedback received by the team has far exceeded expectations, making the task of organizing and processing these opinions more burdensome than anticipated.

Although Furushima is pleased with the game's reception, he admits that the team is fully aware of player criticisms regarding gameplay, controls, pacing, and tutorials. Since launch, the development team has released several updates and plans to continue rolling out further improvements.

In the short term, the team is considering expanding the functionality for skipping events and cutscenes. Regarding the action system, future updates will improve the responsiveness of healing items and reevaluate early-game tutorials, pacing, and user interface (UI) elements. Furushima stated, "We will announce specific update times once they are determined. We are proceeding with development to deliver these improvements as soon as possible."

Beast of Reincarnation is now available on PC (Steam/Microsoft Store), PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.
