Halloween: The Game has officially launched, with the Version 1.0.1 patch going live on day one. This update focuses on fixing cross-platform party issues, NPC pathfinding, and challenge progress tracking, while rebalancing the chase dynamics between Michael and civilians.
The development team confirmed that some players encountered cross-platform matchmaking issues during Early Access. After the update, members of cross-platform parties can follow the party leader into the matchmaking lobby without being sent back to the main menu or disconnected from the party.
Patch 1.0.1 also improves NPC pathfinding, reducing instances where police NPCs get stuck in specific locations and walk in place, while fixing an issue that prevented residents from entering escape points. The detection range for civilian escape points has also been increased.
Further fixes have been applied to issues in the Challenges and Achievements systems where progress was not being recorded correctly. The development team stated that future updates will continue to address any remaining anomalies to ensure players can claim rewards for which they have met the requirements.
Regarding chase mechanics, the patch extends the wait time before civilians' base stamina begins to regenerate and increases the stamina drain caused by "The Evil" on affected targets. Stalked targets will also suffer from reduced stamina regeneration speed and increased regeneration wait time, with the severity depending on the stalk level.
Civilians with Athleticism levels 1–4 receive some compensation: the duration of exhaustion is shortened, the wait time before stamina regeneration begins is reduced, and the regeneration rate is increased. Meanwhile, civilians with Athleticism levels 6–10 have had their maximum stamina and regeneration rate slightly decreased to maintain pressure during chases.
Additionally, players who participated in Early Access before 9 AM PT on September 8 will receive 5,000 free Perk Points as a thank-you reward from developer IllFonic to early supporters.
