The latest reports show that Capcom has generated over $600 million ($617 million) in sales on the PC Steam platform alone so far in 2026, with more than 60% coming from the Resident Evil series. Additionally, about half of the sales come from older titles.
Of the $617 million on Steam:
- 61.6% from the Resident Evil IP, undoubtedly Capcom's cash cow
- 32.6% from Resident Evil 9: Requiem, exceeding $200 million
- 49.1% from legacy titles (pre-2026)
- 9.8% from Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective ($60.5 million and still growing)
With the major launch of Onimusha: Way of the Sword, this will further increase the share of Steam revenue. Capcom recently reiterated that it is "striving to further maximize corporate value by leveraging its rich library of game content."
Remarkably, even as the gaming industry struggles with budget overruns and inflation, Capcom has managed to remain profitable, standing as one of the few game studios to have maintained profitability for nearly a decade.
