Five and a half years after launching into Early Access, Valheim 1.0 officially releases today, bringing a wealth of new content. Developer Iron Gate and publisher Coffee Stain have confirmed that this indie game, which has sold over 17 million copies to date, is now officially available on PC, PlayStation, Xbox, Switch 2, Linux, and Mac platforms.
More importantly, Valheim supports cross-platform multiplayer, ensuring friends can fight side by side and experience the survival challenges of Valheim together.
This milestone update marks the official end of the game's Early Access phase and introduces the game's ultimate chapter: the frozen ancient land of the Northlands. As the final and most treacherous region in the game, the Northlands is an ice-covered wasteland, far larger than all previous regions—approximately 2.5 times the size of any earlier biome.
This area was once home to the kingdom's first Vikings, and now ancient secrets and ghostly mysteries lurk among its ruins. It is inhabited by deadly new enemies such as Garmr Trolls, Eyrthryngja, and Balka, as well as ancient horrors lurking in the depths below. Fortunately, players will find a richer array of equipment in Valheim 1.0, including new crafting recipes, advanced armor sets, weapons, and special tools needed to conquer the polar climate.
