PLAION REPLAI announced today that the NEOGEO AES+ replica console, a faithful recreation of SNK's classic system originally scheduled for release on November 12, has been delayed until September 16 next year. The primary reason is that player pre-order response exceeded expectations, requiring the manufacturer to increase stock preparations.
The NEOGEO AES is a home video game system launched by SNK in 1990. Initially intended for commercial use, it was released as a home console due to strong player demand. Its arcade counterpart is based on the MVS hardware platform. The system's hardware architecture is fully interchangeable with the arcade version, supporting cartridge games of the same specifications.
The official statement indicated that enthusiasm from players far exceeded expectations after the announcement of the NEOGEO AES+ replica console. Coupled with the current shortage in the storage market supply, the company needs to significantly delay preparations to meet the initial pre-order demand from players.
