The phenomenal multiplayer co-op survival crafting game Valheim officially launches its 1.0 version on September 9, 2026.
Since launching in Early Access in 2021, Valheim has accompanied players for over five years. The game quickly swept across the globe upon release, breaking 500,000 concurrent players on Steam and surpassing 10 million copies sold, becoming one of the most representative titles in the multiplayer co-op survival crafting genre in recent years.
Now, this expedition finally welcomes its complete 1.0 version.
Free Update for Veteran Players, New Players Begin Their Complete Journey Now
Existing Valheim players will receive the full release update for free when 1.0 launches.
Existing Valheim players can continue to keep and use their previous characters and worlds; however, Iron Gate recommends that players who wish to fully experience the 1.0 content start a new adventure in a fresh world.
For players entering Valheim for the first time, version 1.0 means you can finally journey from the initial Meadows all the way to the northernmost reaches of the world, experiencing the complete Viking growth and expedition journey.
Start from Nothing and Write Your Own Viking Saga
In Valheim, players take on the role of Viking warriors sent by Odin to the Tenth World.
Starting from nothing, players need to gather resources, craft equipment, establish bases, and cross forests, mountains, swamps, and oceans with partners, challenging increasingly powerful enemies and bosses as they delve deeper into different ecological zones.
Some choose to build a small wooden house by the sea, while others spend hundreds of hours constructing magnificent Viking castles; some sail ships to the map's edge, while others simply enjoy sitting around a campfire with friends, planning the next expedition.
Building, exploring, sailing, combat, and multiplayer co-op together constitute Valheim's unique adventure experience.
The Last Unknown Land – "Ashlands"
With the official 1.0 release, Valheim will also receive the final biome planned from the start: the Ashlands.
At the northernmost edge of the world, blizzards conceal new dangers. Players will face new environments and challenges here, continuing their final expedition.
The Ashlands will complete the final piece of Valheim's world progression, truly forming a complete loop for the journey from initially stepping into the Tenth World, growing, voyaging, and challenging the final unknown lands.
This official 1.0 release brings the most significant content expansion to Valheim to date. In addition to the new final biome, the Ashlands, the game will add over 40 weapons, 4 armor sets, 2 cloaks, 2 accessories, over 30 crafting materials, over 20 food items, over 10 new creatures, and more than 80 buildable pieces, along with new locations, music, events, and gameplay mechanics.
In terms of exploration and combat, players will face new enemies and bosses from the Ashlands, expanding their fighting and movement options with grappling hooks, a new weapon system, bombs, and ammunition. The survival and building aspects introduce snowy environments, ice exploration, new building components, furniture, and production facilities, further enriching base management and world exploration experiences.
