Recently, Ubisoft released update notes on the Steam platform, announcing the official introduction of "Ubisoft Connect Services" to provide players with a simpler launch experience. According to the announcement, by integrating the Ubisoft Connect Services tool into Steam, players can continue to enjoy Ubisoft game features such as cross-progression, cross-platform play, player safety features, challenges, and rewards without needing to install or launch the full Ubisoft Connect PC client. Ubisoft stated that this is the first step toward a smoother, more seamless Steam launch experience, and the company plans to continuously iterate and optimize the service, gradually rolling it out to more Ubisoft games available on Steam.
This change directly addresses PC players' long-standing complaints about third-party launchers. In the past, many Ubisoft games required running Ubisoft Connect separately even if purchased on Steam, adding extra launch steps and potential compatibility issues. Similar measures have appeared in some titles before; for example, the 2025 Steam version of Assassin's Creed Shadows also adopted a lightweight integration scheme, eliminating the need to install the full launcher separately.
