Publisher Rainy Frog and developer Dadako have announced that the 2D stealth action game Spy Drops Gaiden will launch on Steam on October 12. The game is priced at $4.99 in the US, £3.99 in the UK, and €4.99 in Europe.
The official team also released a new trailer showcasing the game's stealth gameplay and confirming that it will include retro-style bonus games. One of these bonus modes features rail shooter gameplay, with a design style similar to Sega's Virtua Cop.
The new trailer also reveals unlockable screen filters. In addition to the default gray-green display effect, players can switch to a more vibrant visual mode.
Spy Drops Gaiden is a 2D spin-off of Spy Drops, set on an island off the coast of Japan. Players must infiltrate fortified bases and carry out a series of covert missions to stop a global threat.
During infiltration, players can hide in shadows, slow their movement to reduce noise, crawl under vehicles, and avoid surveillance cameras. The game features handheld-style graphics, animations, and sound effects, along with classic stealth action and takedown mechanics.
Spy Drops Gaiden is currently available as a demo on Steam, with the full release scheduled for October 12.
