The Bard's Tale Ends Here! The Witcher 3 DLC Will Conclude Dandelion's Story

The new DLC for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, titled "Old Times," will be released in 2027. It serves not only as the final chapter in the story of the famous bard Dandelion but also as an important narrative link connecting to the next main installment in the series.

The developers noted that the concept for this expansion had been brewing for a long time. In an interview with Tech Radar, Jakub Rokosz, the game director for the project, stated that the team had always lacked sufficient space in the original game to fully portray Dandelion. The creators intended to break the stereotype that "the bard exists solely for comic effect."

Rokosz emphasized: "We decided to address this now because Dandelion holds a key place in Geralt's life. Many mistakenly view him merely as a comic relief character, but that is far from the truth. Dandelion is a character with depth and wisdom. He once taught at Oxenfurt University and composed outstanding poetry, and in this DLC, we want to give players a closer look at his personality and the world he grew up in."

According to quest designer Despina Anetaki, it was crucial for the team to find a compelling reason for Geralt to interrupt his peaceful life after the events of Blood and Wine. That catalyst would be saving his best friend. The DLC is positioned as an indispensable "missing chapter" of the original Wild Hunt, completing the overall puzzle of The Witcher story.

"Old Times" is scheduled for release in 2027 and will be available on PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2.
