In an interview, Naoki Hamaguchi cited Square Enix President Takashi Kiryu's statement that 2027 will be the company's "year of major counterattack," with these two blockbuster titles serving as the core drivers of this turnaround. He admitted that both projects now fall within his scope of responsibility, and he will be overseeing their progress.

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is scheduled for release on April 8, 2027, simultaneously launching on PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X|S, Steam, and the Epic Games Store.

As the final chapter of the remake trilogy, this title further expands upon the linear structure of Final Fantasy VII Remake and the open-world design of Rebirth, creating a planet-scale open world. Players can freely pilot the airship "Highwind," ride flying Chocobos, and use parachutes to explore the vastly transformed map.

When asked whether Final Fantasy VII would be suitable for a TV adaptation, Naoki Hamaguchi stated that the team is always looking for the best way to present the IP to audiences, whether through live-action or animated adaptations, calling it "definitely a possibility."
