GTA VI Extended Showcase Exclusive on Netflix Brings Over 100,000 New Subscribers

The GTA VI extended showcase was available exclusively on Netflix for a limited 6-hour window, bringing over 100,000 new registered users to the platform. This 27-minute video also became the third content piece in 2026 to drive a significant registration peak for Netflix.

《GTA6》加长展示限时独播为Netflix带来逾10万新注册用户

Data released by Ampere Analysis shows that the extended showcase accumulated over 31 million views. Among the 93 countries included in the statistics, the video ranked first in viewership in 87 of them.

The event also prompted some long-inactive Netflix members to return to the platform. Among US members who had not watched Netflix in the past 30 days, over 5% returned to watch the showcase; Ampere noted that this user return rate was higher than that of any series or movie on Netflix during the same period.

Katie Holt, Senior Research Analyst at Ampere, stated that while Netflix cannot directly compete with major AAA game franchises, it can vie for the attention surrounding these titles. Trailers, game reveal events, and film/TV adaptations allow Netflix to enter gaming culture without owning the games themselves.

Louise Wooldridge, Senior Research Manager, believes that the 6-hour exclusive window generated over 100,000 registrations, demonstrating the appeal of major gaming events. For Netflix, such content helps attract a gaming audience and win back lapsed users; for Rockstar, Netflix allows GTA VI to reach audiences beyond its traditional core players.
