Marvel's Wolverine Japanese Version Retains Blood and Dismemberment Effects with Option to Disable

Footage from the Japanese version of Marvel's Wolverine shows that the game retains violent elements such as blood and limb dismemberment. Players can also disable these effects through accessibility options.

In hands-on reviews of the Japanese version, enemies' limbs are shown breaking off during combat, attacks cause blood to splatter, and grenades result in bodies exploding. Based on the footage shown so far, these visuals do not appear to have been significantly censored for the Japanese release.

The game also offers customizable violence settings. Players can hide blood effects in attacks and cutscenes, as well as disable limb dismemberment during gameplay, adjusting the visual content to their personal preferences.

Marvel's Wolverine is a single-player action-adventure game developed by Insomniac Games in collaboration with Marvel Games. Players take on the role of James "Logan" Howlett as he battles across Canada, Japan, and the fictional island nation of Madripoor to stop Bolivar Trask's plan to kidnap mutants.

The game is scheduled to launch on PS5 on September 15, 2026. The Standard Edition will be priced at 8,980 yen, while the Digital Deluxe Edition will cost 9,980 yen.
