The extended gameplay showcase for Grand Theft Auto VI, launched exclusively on Netflix, brought over 100,000 new U.S. subscribers to the platform. Analysts' statistics further show that this marked the third-highest subscription peak for Netflix in 2026.
In addition to new users, more than 5% of inactive viewers in the U.S. returned to Netflix due to Grand Theft Auto VI. This data reflects viewers who were previously inactive but resumed using the platform during this period.
Last month, Rockstar Games revealed gameplay footage for Grand Theft Auto VI, exclusively showcased on Netflix. The footage quickly garnered global attention from gamers, with many viewers praising the game's visuals, voice acting, and overall polish.
Analysts noted that although the exclusive showcase window was short, the resulting subscription growth ranked among the highest for Netflix this year, second only to the finale of Stranger Things and the UFC fight between Rousey and Carano.
Grand Theft Auto VI is currently scheduled for release in November. This analysis indicates that its gameplay showcase not only attracted the gaming audience but also directly drove new subscriptions and user re-engagement on Netflix in the U.S. market during its exclusive broadcast.
