Borderlands Mobile has suddenly launched on Apple iOS. The developer is UK studio NaturalMotion, which previously worked on Star Wars: Hunters. It is published by Zynga, a subsidiary of Take-Two. Gearbox Software, the developer of the Borderlands series, is only involved as a consultant.
Borderlands Mobile is touted as a free-to-play "epic looter-shooter." Currently, it is available only to iPhone users (no Android version yet) and exclusively in the United States. We attempted to access the game from other regions but received error messages indicating that the game is unavailable in those areas.

Below is a 30-minute gameplay video released by overseas players. The footage shows that Borderlands Mobile retains the series' signature art style, shooting mechanics, and gameplay loop. Players can even control the charismatic Moxxi.

In a statement sent to IGN, a Zynga spokesperson said: "We have been exploring ways to introduce the Borderlands series to new audiences. NaturalMotion, a studio under Zynga, is currently conducting limited-time testing for an unnamed Borderlands mobile project, with Gearbox providing creative guidance on the series' design, history, and lore. We hope players enjoy this new Borderlands experience and look forward to their feedback."
