Valheim Adds Extra-Long Cheat Command: Unlock Achievements Even While Cheating

After five years in Early Access, Valheim 1.0 officially launched this week, bringing the final biome, a new boss, numerous new weapons, armor, and monsters, as well as over 50 achievements—though using console commands to enable cheats will permanently lock these achievements.

However, things have changed now, at least for Steam players. Valheim received two patches today, including several bug fixes and gameplay adjustments, one of which is a major change to the achievement system.

《英灵神殿》新增超长作弊指令 开挂也能解锁成就

Developer Iron Gate stated: “This fix adds a feature that allows you to optionally re-enable achievement progress, even if your achievements were previously locked due to using developer commands. Whether to enable this feature is entirely your choice—Odin will definitely know if you're using it to cheat.”

This new command is available only to Steam players, and its name is quite a mouthful:

“Now, even if you've previously had your achievements locked due to using developer commands or mods, you can choose to re-enable achievement progress by entering the new command ‘yesiuseddevcommandsbutiwantmyachievementsanyway.’ Whether to enable this feature is entirely up to you—Odin will surely know if you're using it to cut corners.”

By the way, if you're not familiar with Valheim's cheat features, our Valheim console commands guide can help. We've updated the guide for version 1.0, allowing you to spawn new materials, weapons, food, and items from the Ashlands using commands. You can even earn achievements while using these cheats, even if Odin might be disappointed in you. Pretty neat, right?

This patch also brings other adjustments: the good news is that heavy armor in the Ashlands can now be repaired; the bad news is that you can no longer clear snow by punching it—after all, survival games are meant to be solved with tools (now you'll need to craft a shovel).

Interestingly, players discovered a few days ago that the newly added wooden suspension bridges were too narrow for carts to pass through—which defeats the purpose of a bridge meant for traffic. However, the developers promised a quick fix, and this change is included in today's patch.

Below are the full update logs for both patches:

Patch 1.0.10 – All Platforms

- Heavy armor in the Ashlands can now be repaired

- Dvergr Shamans in the Ashlands now deal reasonable amounts of damage and healing

- Punch attacks no longer clear snow

- Snow is now cleared when landing on it, rather than just walking over it

- Updated various sound effects for creatures and snow in the Ashlands

Patch 1.0.12 – Steam Only

The following fixes fully support cross-platform play and will be synchronized to all platforms in an upcoming hotfix, which we are working to release as soon as possible.

- Using the Potential Forge no longer unlocks recipes that shouldn't be unlocked

- Items on armor stands and item stands will no longer lose durability or upgrade levels if the world has not been updated to version 1.0 (however, we are working on a more comprehensive fix, so if you are already playing version 1.0, please do not remove high-tier items (fish, weapons, armor, etc.) from item stands without a backup)

- Fixed a crash that could occur when players attempted to access unloaded areas

- Fixed an issue where the blacklist and whitelist only supported the new ID format (e.g., V_123456789), when they should also support the old format (e.g., Steam_123456789)

- Added a pop-up notification to more clearly inform players when achievements can be re-enabled after being temporarily disabled

- Added the developer command “yesiuseddevcommandsbutiwantmyachievementsanyway,” allowing players to optionally enable achievement progress even if they have used developer commands or mods

- Carts can now pass smoothly over wooden suspension bridges

- Jötun Puffs and Magi Caps no longer appear as pickable after being picked up
