"Cyan Heart" Launches on Steam on October 9, Featuring Full Selfie Camera Perspective

Indie developer Shoei Sio has announced that the selfie-view horror exploration puzzle-adventure game "Cyan Heart" will be released on October 9, 2026, for PC via Steam, priced at 1,300 yen. The release announcement trailer has also been unveiled.

《Cyan Heart》将于10月9日登陆Steam 全程采用自拍摄像视角

In the game, players can only explore The Facilty through the camera view held by the protagonist, a young girl. The lens is always pointed at the girl herself and the area behind her, so players cannot see directly ahead. They must observe changes in her expressions and check what's behind and beneath her through the screen, solving puzzles and avoiding obstacles in this limited field of vision.

Compared to the demo, the full version includes a new movement assistance system. The character will look toward locations that are accessible or worth noting, and players can set markers at target spots to allow the protagonist to move automatically. The protagonist is named Sara, a young girl who wears an ushanka hat and always appears tense.

The story takes place in a world sustained by a special energy source called the "Magenta Heart." This energy can permanently mimic various physical phenomena, but it suddenly turns cyan, transforming into a dangerous entity known as "Cyan" that dyes all tangible objects cyan, driving both living beings and machines mad. Sara enters an abandoned facility alone, searching for something rumored to be able to stop the erosion.

Players will also gradually learn why Sara constantly takes selfies and leaves behind images through her communications with companions. The game features low-poly visuals, with abandoned facilities presenting a psychedelic and digital atmosphere. Players must use the world's unique energy mechanics to solve puzzles.

Shoei Sio stated that the selfie perspective is not just about pursuing unusual camera angles or highlighting puzzles; the act of "selfie-taking" itself carries narrative significance. As a university student majoring in design, he considers persisting with this stressful and experimental perspective a significant challenge, hoping to express the act of "observing this world."
