Battle Dogs sold 1 million copies on its first day of release, rising to 1.25 million by the second day, and surpassing the 2 million mark by the fifth day. Bulkhead thanked players on social media, stating that the team initially created the game just to play with friends, and they were delighted to see players experiencing it with their own friends.

After initial complaints regarding launch issues, the game's reviews have improved. Clips showcasing various humorous moments in Battle Dogs have gone viral online (players even deliberately avoided the Lonestar faction because they felt it attracted the lowest-skilled players and resulted in the most losses).

Bulkhead expects the Early Access phase for Battle Dogs to last one to two years, with console versions planned for release in 2028. The team noted that the specific development timeline may still be adjusted based on production progress and community feedback, during which time they will add content, improve systems, and continue balancing.

Future update plans include new maps, weapons, vehicles, and gameplay variations, with vehicle types expanding to include fighter jets. The team also plans to refine the progression system, seasonal content, and combat reward mechanisms, ensuring that contributions in combat, support, and logistics are all appropriately rewarded.

The full release will expand on the Early Access version with more content and a higher level of polish, and the game's price is planned to increase at that time. The Bulkhead development team stated that they will always prioritize improving game balance, optimization, and stability.
