Tokyo Game Show 2026's First Public Day Features a Showcase of Cosplay

Tokyo Game Show 2026 welcomed its first public day on September 19, with numerous cosplayers showcasing characters from both new and classic games. Featured titles included Romancing SaGa 3: United Fate, Illusion of L'Phalcia, and Street Fighter 6, with long lines forming at some photo areas.

The event was held from September 17 to 20 at Makuhari Messe in Chiba Prefecture, Japan, with September 17 and 18 designated as business days. In addition to game demos, stage events, and on-site giveaways, game cosplay was also a key part of the convention.

On the first public day, characters from popular titles such as Goddess of Victory: Nikke, Blue Archive, and Genshin Impact were commonly seen. Characters from Street Fighter 6, Final Fantasy VII Remake, as well as the Super Mario and Persona series, also drew many visitors who queued up to take photos.

Titles slated for release in 2026 were also present, including Diana from Illusion of L'Phalcia, Grace Ashcroft from Resident Evil Requiem, Honoka from Dead or Alive 6: Last Battle, and Rukh from Dissidia Final Fantasy Opera Omnia.

Thomas Bent from Romancing SaGa 3: United Fate also made an appearance at the venue. Other costumes included Crimson Viper and Elena from Street Fighter 6, Ann Takamaki from Persona 5: Dancing in Starlight, and Tifa Lockhart from Final Fantasy VII Remake.

Among classic titles, two cosplayers appeared together as Barbara and Mireille from Dragon Quest VI: The Phantom Lands. Characters such as Rosalina from the Super Mario series were also present, highlighting the event's coverage of both new releases and classic games.
