Hazbin Hotel is a dark comedy animated series that follows Charlie, the daughter of Lucifer, and her companions as they help sinful souls redeem themselves in a modernized Hell so they can ascend to Heaven. The redemption process doesn't go as smoothly as Charlie imagined, sparking ongoing discussions among fans about morality, religious dogma, power structures, and who is worthy of salvation.
Medrano, known online as Vivziepop, serves as the writer, director, and producer, creating the show for Prime Video through her studio SpindleHorse Toons. The series initially launched with a pilot episode on YouTube in 2019; its second season concluded in November 2025, with the third season expected to premiere in 2027.
Roo first appeared in a sketch released by Medrano in 2019, depicted as a woman wearing a wide-brimmed hat and bound in chains, with strange tentacles protruding from her fanged mouth. She has not yet officially appeared in the series, having previously left clues through subtle Easter eggs, leading some viewers to regard her existence as mere fan speculation.
Medrano also confirmed in a Bluesky post in September 2026 that the red eyes appearing throughout Hell's architecture belong to Roo. These visuals thus establish a clear connection to this character, who has yet to make an official appearance.
