The film is directed by Kitao Sakurai, who co-wrote the screenplay with T.J. Fixman. Based on the promotional materials released so far, the new film emphasizes a lighthearted and comedic tone, focusing on faithfully recreating the characters and their signature moves.
The live-action Street Fighter movie is set in 1993. Estranged friends Ryu and Ken Masters are invited back into the fight by Chun-Li to compete in the new World Warrior tournament. They soon become entangled in a deadly conspiracy, forcing them to confront not only each other but also their own pasts.
Ryu is played by Andrew Koji, Ken Masters by Noah Centineo, and Chun-Li by Liang Kaiqing. The cast also includes several comedians, aligning with the humorous tone presented in current promotions.
