Recently, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth Director Naoki Hamaguchi stated that playing through the standard process from start to finish and checking every asset and piece of content in the game could easily exceed 100 hours per playthrough. As the final chapter of the remake trilogy, the scale of this title may surpass that of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth.
Naoki Hamaguchi stated that he couldn't spend hundreds of hours checking every detail during each test run. When time was limited, he would sometimes skip battles to focus on confirming the main storyline.
Naoki Hamaguchi previously revealed that he had completed Final Fantasy VII Rebirth over 40 times. This time, he gave the exact figure of 46 completions and stated that he would continue testing whenever time permitted. During breaks in interviews, he would take out his portable PS5 controller to check the latest version. Even while traveling for business, he still used spare moments to verify if there were any issues with the game.
The physical editions for XSX/S and PS5 both use a single disc, with the remaining content requiring a download. Naoki Hamaguchi stated that this arrangement was made to ensure no compromises on game quality.
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth requires approximately 200GB of installation space. However, Naoki Hamaguchi emphasized that a large file size does not necessarily mean a better game; the team's goal is to deliver a title that meets player expectations and makes the creators truly proud.
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth will launch on XSX/S, PS5, PC, and Switch 2 on April 8, 2027. Cloud remains the protagonist of this title, while other characters will also receive more screen time.
